چکیده

Hotelling’s statistic, also called T-statistic, is widely used in statistical process control as an extension of the univariate student’s chart to reliably detect out of control status in multivariate processes. Although it is a very efficient tool for detection purposes, by itself, it offers no assistance about the origin of the declared faulty status. Several different approaches have been proposed to estimate the variable values’ effect on the overall statistic’s value. Some of these strategies work in the original measurement space while others interpret the results coming from the analysis in latent variable spaces using for example principal component analysis (PCA) or independent component analysis (ICA). In this work we present a novel strategy based on finding the nearest “in-control” neighbour of the observation point.

Developing new methods to monitor phase II fuzzy linear profiles

In some quality control applications, the quality of a process or a product is described by the relationship between a response variable and one or more explanatory variables, called a profile. Moreover, in most practical applications, the qualitative characteristic of a product/service is vague, uncertain and linguistic and cannot be precisely stated. The purpose of this paper is to propose a ...

A Multivariate Quality Control Procedure in Multistage Production Systems

In this paper a multivariate quality control procedure is offered in which several correlated stages are present in production systems and in each stage there are several correlated control variable. Using Hotelling's T2 statistic, first, each stage is tested for being out of control. Then out of control variables are selected using Murphy's method. The remainder of the research involves evalua...

Assessing the Performance of Statistical-structural and Geostatistical Methods in Estimating the 3D Distribution of the Uniaxial Compressive Strength Parameter in the Sarcheshmeh Porphyry Copper Deposit

The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of intact rocks is an important geotechnical parameter required for designing geotechnical and mining engineering projects. Obtaining accurate estimates of the rock mass UCS parameter throughout a 3D geological model of the deposit is vital for determining optimum rock slope stability, designing new exploratory and blast boreholes, mine planning, optimizi...

Improvement of the sensitivity of T2 quality control charts by variable grouping and dimension reducing

With increasing number of variables the Hotelling's T statistic can detect only larger failures in the variables. A new method is introduced for reducing the dimension of the Hotelling's statistic in order to detect smaller failures. The basic idea is to group some variables into a combined variable and to calculate the T value from this variable and from the remaining variables. As the new cal...

Estimation of Density using Plotless Density Estimator Criteria in Arasbaran Forest

Sampling methods have a theoretical basis and should be operational in different forests; therefore selecting an appropriate sampling method is effective for accurate estimation of forest characteristics. The purpose of this study was to estimate the stand density (number per hectare) in Arasbaran forest using a variety of the plotless density estimators of the nearest neighbors sampling me...
